CEPI 3.0 will systematically reduce the likelihood, impact and cost of epidemics and pandemics by driving measurable progress to turn the pandemic-busting potential of the 100 Days Mission into an operational reality.
Implementing CEPI 3.0 will cost $3.6 billion, of which $1.1 billion is already secured. CEPI is seeking $2.5 billion in new funding to execute CEPI 3.0 and secure the future against epidemics and pandemics.
An investment in CEPI will hardwire speed and equity into preparedness – reducing deaths, disruption and economic losses, building national and regional resilience, and helping neutralise pandemic threats before they erupt into crises.
CEPI will allocate programmatic funding across the CEPI 3.0 priority areas:
- 60% will fund vaccines and viral families.
We will advance response-ready vaccines for epidemic pathogens and build scientific knowledge for the world’s highest-risk viral families so we can respond rapidly to a new Disease X.
- 15% will fund platform technologies.
We will strengthen rapid-response vaccine platforms and embed them with regional manufacturers so countries can move quickly against outbreaks.
- 15% will fund networks.
We will support global networks that can be quickly activated to execute the 100 Days Mission.
- 10% will fund cross cutting capabilities including innovation, AI, equity and biosecurity.
We will apply the latest AI to accelerate vaccine development and embed equity and biosecurity in every aspect of our work.

Investors are the heart of CEPI’s unique coalition. CEPI is backed by more than 30 national governments, the European Commission and numerous philanthropic organisations, predominantly the Gates Foundation and Wellcome Trust. Our funding comes from a diverse set of countries with differing levels of income and is drawn from health, science, development and security budgets.
All core investors join CEPI’s Investors Council, which elects representatives to the CEPI Board. CEPI’s teams and advisors include world-leading experts in epidemiology, vaccinology, manufacturing, public health, data science and biosecurity.
