Outbreak Update

2 Jul 2019. Epidemiological situation report, DRC Ministry of Health

The epidemiological situation of the Ebola virus disease (EVD) in the provinces of North Kivu and Ituri dated 1 Jul 2019:
- Since the beginning of the epidemic, the cumulative number of cases is 2354, of which 2260 are confirmed and 94 are probable. In total, there were 1586 deaths (1492 confirmed and 94 probable) and 654 people cured.
- 402 suspected cases are under investigation;
- 16 new confirmed cases, including 11 in Beni, 1 in Mutwanga, 1 in Mandima, 1 in Komanda, 1 in Vuhovi and 1 in Lubero;
- 15 new confirmed case deaths: 5 community deaths, including 3 in Beni, 1 in Mandima and 1 in Komanda; 10 deaths at Ebola treatment centers (ETCs)/CT, including 3 in Beni, 2 in Mabalako, 2 in Butembo, 1 in Katwa, 1 in Ariwara and 1 in Bunia;
- 1 person recovered and discharged from Butembo ETC.

Outbreak Response

148 183 people vaccinated
70 953 538 people checked at 80 entry and operational health checkpoints
127 contaminated healthcare workers
One of Beni's non-vaccinated healthcare workers is one of the new confirmed cases.
The cumulative number of confirmed/probable cases among healthcare workers is 127 (5% of all confirmed/probable cases), including 40 deaths.
