CEPI is pleased to announce that Professor Dr Veronika von Messling has been appointed to the Board where she will sit as an Investor representative. Dr von Messling replaces Dr Joachim Klein, who has stood down after 3 years of service.

Alongside her role on the Board, Dr von Messling will also join the Nominations, Compensation, Diversity and Inclusion committee.

Dr von Messling is Director General of the Life Science Division at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. She obtained her veterinary degree and her doctorate degree in veterinary virology from the Veterinary School Hannover, Germany. After postdoctoral training at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, she was Assistant Professor at INRS-Institut Armand-Frappier in Laval, QC, and then Associate Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore, before becoming Director of the Veterinary Division at Paul-Ehrlich-Institute, the German Federal Institute of Vaccines and Biomedicines, in Langen, Germany. Her expertise lies in the development of novel prophylactic and therapeutic strategies against infectious diseases.

In addition to welcoming Dr von Messling, the CEPI Board re-elected Jane Halton as Board Member and Chair for an additional term of five years, and renewed Dr John Nkengasong and Dr David Reddy as Board Members for additional terms of five years.

Dr Patricia J Garcia has resigned from her position on the CEPI Board, and the Board thanked Dr Garcia for her service. The Board will now seek a new Member to fill the vacant seat.

Finally, Helen Rees was renewed as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee for one year, and Peggy Hamburg was renewed as Chair of the Joint Coordination Group for two years.
