CEPI has appointed Claire Hoang Sperandio as its first Executive Director of People and Organisation.

Commenting on Claire’s appointment, Aurélia Nguyen, Deputy CEO of the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), said: “I am delighted to welcome Claire to CEPI. In our short eight-year history, CEPI has undergone an incredible transformation from its early days as a small start-up to a truly global organisation at the heart of epidemic preparedness and response. Claire’s appointment represents an important inflection point in our organisation’s development as we prepare for the inevitable challenges ahead. Her wealth of experience will help build on our mission, drive and culture and play a critical part in enhancing our ability to deliver.”

Claire Hoang Sperandio said: “I am delighted to be joining CEPI at this critical point in its organisational development. CEPI’s mission is one that strongly resonates with me personally and it will be an honour to continue to build on the fantastic work that has already been done.”

Claire will join CEPI’s Executive Leadership Team in September and her responsibilities will include leading on staff development, health and wellbeing, recruitment, strategic workforce planning, team effectiveness. Claire will also lead on CEPI’s organisational development, flexible working practices, internal communications and HR operations and policies. She will report into CEPI’s Deputy CEO, Aurélia Nguyen.

CEPI was launched in 2017 in response to the deadly West African Ebola epidemic with the consensus that a coordinated, international and intergovernmental plan was needed to develop and deploy new vaccines to prevent future epidemics. Central to CEPI’s pandemic-beating plan is the 100 Days Mission, a goal to compress the time taken to develop vaccines against new threats to 100 days.

CEPI has offices in London, Oslo and Washington D.C. and additional global workers based around the world. Its workforce is made up of people from nearly 60 nations.
