Global Citizen's One World: Together At Home event watched by billions

The eight-hour long One World: Together At Home show, organised by the global advocacy platform Global Citizen, WHO and Lady Gaga, was streamed worldwide over the weekend to a global audience of billions.

The show brought the global community together to celebrate and support brave healthcare workers doing life-saving work on the front lines.




One World: Together At Home kicked off with a six-hour digital stream that was followed by a two-hour broadcast special. An incredible line-up of musicians, scientists, politicians, frontline workers and others came together — virtually - to help unify and inspire people around the world, focusing on communities impacted by COVID-19. The eight hours included conversations with, and tributes to, the scientists, healthcare professionals, and other essential services workers that have championed the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The show included features from Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, Rita Ora, The Killers, John Legend, Celine Dion, Charlie Puth, The Rolling Stones, One Direction star Niall Horan, Annie Lennox and many more. Other guests included CEPI supporters such as the Prime Minister of Norway, Erna Solberg, Deputy Prime Minister of Belgium, Alexander De Croo, and Gavi CEO, Seth Berkley. US talkshow hosts, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert hosted the broadcast.

Following the One World: Together At Home event, Global Citizen announced that the event had raised a total of $127.9 million, primarily in commitments from corporate partners and philanthropists. $55.1 million of this has been pledged to the UN Foundation's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, of which CEPI is a beneficiary.

CEPI is proud to be partnering with Global Citizen in support of our resource mobilisation and advocacy efforts to fund the development of COVID-19 vaccines.

CEPI is also a beneficiary of the UN Foundation's COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, a platform for individuals and organizations to directly contribute to the work of WHO, UNICEF and CEPI to defeat COVID-19. Allocations from the Fund are decided by WHO in line with its Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan, and CEPI has already received a first disbursement of $10 million.

To date, CEPI has received $915 million of the $2 billion that is urgently required to develop safe and effective vaccines against COVID-19.
