CEPI Governance

The coalition’s activities are coordinated by a Secretariat, headquartered in Norway with support by the Norwegian government, and close support from the other founders:

  • Wellcome Trust
  • Government of India
  • Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
  • World Economic Forum

Our Chief Executive Officer is Richard Hatchett.

CEPI is governed by a Board made up of experts from founding partners, industry, governments and non-governmental organisations. It is chaired by Jane Halton with Cherry Gagandeep Kang, Christian Medical College Vellore, as vice-chair.

The Board is advised on decisions such as prioritising pathogens and selecting development partners by a Scientific Advisory Committee. This is chaired by Helen Rees, Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute, with James Robinson, James Robinson Biologics Consulting, as vice-chair.

A Joint Coordination Group coordinates the broader vaccine development efforts of CEPI partners and links up with other organisations to ensure vaccines reach the populations who need them. The group is chaired by Dr Margaret Hamburg, American Association for the Advancement of Science.
